FAQs

  • What does this calculator do?

It gives you a quick monthly snapshot of how much profit is leaking through 3rd-party delivery—then estimates what you could recover by moving a portion of those orders to 1st-party ordering.

  • What should I enter if I don’t know my 3rd-party order count?

Use 3rd-party sales/month ($). Most owners remember revenue faster than order count, and the calculator estimates orders from your average ticket + markup.

  • What does “3rd-Party Commission Paid / mo” mean?

That’s the estimated amount you pay to delivery apps each month based on your 3rd-party sales and the commission % you enter. It’s money you don’t get back.

  • What does “Customer Savings (est.)” mean?

If you move some orders to 1st-party ordering, customers avoid the extra menu markup typically charged on delivery apps. This is an estimate of how much customers save per month based on your “Move to 1st-party” %.

  • Why might “Avg Cash Waiting on Payout” be lower than commission paid?

Commission is a fee (a percent of sales). Cash waiting on payout is a timing estimate: it shows the average amount of your sales delayed due to payout timing (e.g., 7-day delay). Different problem—cashflow vs fees.

  • What does “Recovered Profit / mo (Net)” mean?

It estimates the monthly profit you could recover by moving a portion of orders off 3rd-party apps:

Avoided commission (what you stop paying)

minus 1st-party ordering fees (if any)

minus first-order offer cost (if you use a promo)

  • Why does the calculator ask for “3rd-Party Menu Markup (%)”?

Many restaurants raise menu prices on apps to offset commissions. That markup affects:

what customers pay extra on apps (and the savings when they order direct)

the estimated 3rd-party ticket and order count

  • Are these numbers exact?

No—this is a directional snapshot. The exact numbers depend on your provider terms, item mix, fee structure, and payout timing. It’s designed to start the right profitability conversation fast.

  • What “Move to 1st-party” % should I try?

A realistic starting range is 10–30%. You don’t need 100% to see meaningful recovered profit—small shifts add up fast.

  • Does this include driver fees, refunds, promos, or ad spend inside DoorDash/UberEats?

Not yet. This calculator focuses on the biggest levers (commission, markup, payout delay, and moving orders). If you want, we can add optional fields for promos/ads/refunds later
